Turnberry Isle Resort and Club

Turnberry Isle Resort and Club is a luxury resort in the city of Aventura, Florida, which is near Miami. It features Robert Trent Jones designed golf courses, a spa, tennis facilities, an ocean club, and restaurants.

The resort was developed by Donny Soffer and Edward J. Lewis of Oxford Development, who are responsible for several other projects in the area, including Aventura Mall and residential developments. Until August 2011 it was operated by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.

Famous regulars include actors Robert Evans, James Caan, and Jack Nicholson, baseball manager Tommy Lasorda, and world champion offshore powerboat racer Joey Ippolito. During the 1980s, the resort owners employed high-profile hostesses such as Donna Rice and Lyn Armandt.

In 1988, Lewis' yacht Monkey Business was docked at the resort when it was visited by Presidential-hopeful Gary Hart and Rice. Publicity from this encounter soon sank Hart's campaign.
